Friends of the Paint Creek Trail Receives $1,500 donation from Motor City Brew Tours

On April 27, the Motor City Brew Tours held a “Cruisin’ for Trails” fundraiser on the Clinton River and Paint Creek Trails, to raise awareness of the trails and to raise money for trail improvements. Over 250 cyclists participated in the ride, which included tours of the Rochester Mills Beer Co in Rochester and 51 North Brewing Company in Lake Orion.
Steve Johnson, President of Motor City Brew Tours, presented a check for $1,500 to the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail on May 16, 2013. “Motor City Brew Tours would like to thank everyone who came out to support such a great cause. We appreciated all of the riders, volunteers and sponsors who made this first time bike event such an amazing success and we look forward to the opportunity to repeat this event’s success in 2014,” said Steve Johnson. The Friends group has big plans for the unexpected donation. “The Friends of the Paint Creek Trail is excited to receive such a generous donation from Motor City Brew Tours. We’ve been actively fundraising for trail enhancements, including a new drinking fountain at our Tienken trailhead, and additional rest areas. This donation will go a long way to help us fund new projects,” said Jim VanDoorn, President, Friends of the Paint Creek Trail. Exciting News!
We recently purchased and donated our first enhancement for the Paint Creek Trail! A Bike Fixit Station was installed at the Paint Creek Cider Mill. It comes with all of the tools and instructions that you need to make bike repairs. You can place your bike on the hanger arms while making needed adjustments. Scan the QR code with your iPhone or Smartphone, and easily access repair instructions. We hope you enjoy this new amenity, and we couldn't have done it without your donations and support. Thank you!
